Eclectic menu to be featured at Jingle Mingle

Don’t expect the same ol’ food at this year’s Jingle Mingle on Dec. 14 at Shine.  We’re giving this holiday party a new, unexpected culinary twist!

Everyone is used to the normal selection that can be found on any given night at a social event in Charleston - mini crab cakes, shrimp and grits filled martini glasses, and perhaps an assortment of cheeses.  Boring right?  For this event, we’ve collaborated with Shine’s executive chef, Dillon Snider, to come up with some unconventional savory treats to please your palate.  Take a look at what you’ll miss out on if you don’t attend…

Taquitos: flour tortillas filled with chicken, cheese, herbs and spices, rolled and fried. Topped with chili sour cream.
Bulgogi: Korean BBQ skewers, marinated in sweet and savory sauce, grilled, served with sesame and scallions.
Parmesan & caramelized onion potato crisp: purple peruvian potato chips(house made) topped with caramelized onions and Parmesan cheese.
Goat chese and roasted red pepper crostini: grilled ciabatta, creamy goat cheese and basil pesto.

Sounds yummy right?!

The mastermind behind the menu is Chef Dillon.  A graduate of Johnson and Wales University, Dillon came to Charleston from Tennessee where his exposure to cuisine was his father’s signature dish, ketchup sandwich!  He’s come a long way since then - traveling to Belgium, instructing classes at Charleston Cooks, and working as the chef at Trusted Palate before joining the team at Shine.

Dillon uses local ingredients as often as possible and strives to create whimsical cuisine in a city where food is usually taken very seriously.  This made him the perfect fit for this year’s Jingle Mingle!

If you haven’t reserved your ticket to attend, go to www.charlestonama.org and purchase it now.  Space is filling up fast and this event may sell out!
