If you missed the AMA luncheon last week, I feel bad for you.
Honestly, I think Jay Berkowitz gave one of the best presentations I’ve ever heard on Internet Marketing. If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry as we’ll post a podcast of his presentation this week. And, we might even have a guest appearance on our blog by Jay himself. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, you can also check his site – TenGoldenRules.com – for more information. Here are my personal takeaways:
- Start thinking of natural/organic rankings as “PR.”
- To maximize your SEO efforts on your site, stick to 250-1,000 words per page and target 2-3 keyword phrases (repeated 3 times).
- Looking for competitive intelligence? Check sites like compete.com and SEODigger.com.
- Practice online reputation management; protect your brand on social media sites and use a combination of PPC ads, blogs, videos, articles, etc to maximize your keyword search results.
- Looking for freelancers? Search guru.com or connect with local talent through AMA events and our Facebook page.
- And, last but certainly not least, build and protect your personal brand online. Christopher Donahue speaks to this point in more depth.
So, let’s hear from you. What were your takeaways or do you have any questions for Jay to address?

Still thinking about Jay’s presentation from the Feb AMA luncheon! I walked away with a long “to do” list, but am taking his advice and trying to tackle one goal per week.
On the agenda for this week – starting a blog! Now I just have to figure out of area of my life that people will want to hear about.
Hope March’s meeting is as successful as Feb’s. Topic – the business of going green. I’d love to break the record with 100 attendees, we’re almost there!
