Erin is a freelance content marketing writer based in Charleston, SC. She writes web and blog content, ebooks, articles and other content marketing pieces for small to mid-sized businesses. Erin also helps solo entrepreneurs with online marketing strategy. Local publications she’s written for include Mount Pleasant Magazine, North Charleston Magazine and The Post and Courier.
Before moving to Charleston in early 2011 and starting her company Lowcountry Copywriter, Erin worked as the lab manager at the Primate Cognition Lab at Columbia University in New York City. Before that, she was an assistant pastry chef at the Essential Baking Company in Seattle. She received her Bachelors in Music from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002.
In her free time, Erin dances tango, teaches Italian, sings with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus and is an active playwright. She lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband Gian Paolo and her greyhound Romeo.
Kelly is the Marketing Communications Coordinator for the South Carolina Aquarium, where she is responsible for community outreach, email marketing, copywriting and editing. Previously, she served as the Marketing Director at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley in Knoxville, Tennessee while serving in AmeriCorps. She is passionate about marketing for nonprofits, a career path she chose after completing an internship at Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina. She enjoys addressing the unique challenge that a nonprofit faces to tell stories that inspire the public while also securing the resources to accomplish its mission.
Originally from Delaware, Kelly moved to South Carolina to attend Furman University and made Charleston her home in 2014. When she’s not working, you might find her brewing beer, running, or exploring Charleston’s many attractions and restaurants.
Andrew Barton believes in building relationships with his clients to create graphic communication tools that will build their business and grow their brand. With a decade of experience, Andrew now runs Andrew Barton Design, focusing on logo/branding, illustration, graphic design for web, print and animated motion videos.
Some of Andrew’s clients include Cooper River Bridge Run, Southeastern Wildlife Expo, St. Andrew’s Park Circle, The Ridley Institute, William Means Real Estate, Artfields Festival and Mill Village Farms
As a member of the Charleston American Marketing Association, Andrew has created numerous event graphics and a new chapter logo, earning him a Volunteer of the Year award.
Ellen has over 19 years of marketing and business development experience. In her role as Marketing Coordinator on DHG’s marketing team, Ellen is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the region’s annual marketing and business development plan, as well as events, social media programs and sponsorships designed to expand the firm’s presence in the local business community. In 2014, Ellen was recognized as being one of the 10 Most Engaged U.S. Marketers by LinkedIn.
Prior to joining DHG, Ellen was a sales and marketing professional for tax and accounting software companies including PeopleSoft, SunGard and CCH. Ellen has over 20 years’ experience working directly with financial and tax accounting professionals, including 17 years developing, training, marketing and selling in the software industry.
Ellen has been very involved in DHG’s Women Forward initiative. Women Forward’s mission is to recruit, develop and retain best-in-class women and to further advance and support women in our communities and beyond through learning and leadership. She is also on the Community Advisory Board for the Women’s and Gender Studies program at the College of Charleston.
Ellen resides in Mt. Pleasant with her two teenaged daughters. In her spare time she enjoys cycling, kayaking, yoga, running and weight lifting.
Originally from Aiken, SC, Adam now works for the Town of Mount Pleasant as a Compliance Accountant. His previous roles include Deputy Treasurer at the Aiken County Treasurer’s Office and Mortgage Financial Analyst at Security Federal Bank. Adam is currently working towards earning his CPA license. He joined the board of the Charleston AMA in January, 2017.
As Director of Programming for the Charleston AMA, Amanda recruits speakers for the monthly Signature Luncheon series and helps line up participants for the CAMA’s Marketing Bootcamp.
Amanda is a B2B sales professional through her company Salesology with nearly a decade of experience with B2B sales. Amanda originally hails from Birmingham, Alabama, and now lives in Charleston with her husband Frank.
Charlotte has been working at Blackbaud since she graduated from the College of Charleston in 2013. She started as an intern in marketing for our web-design services, and continued a marketing career path as a full-time employee.
After 3 years with Blackbaud, she has experience creating demand with Blackbaud’s well-known National Affiliate brands (Make a Wish, Habitat for Humanity, Feeding America, to name a few), managing budget, planning and logistics for 53 annual Enterprise-level tradeshows, and most recently, creating demand for Blackbaud’s newest peer-to-peer fundraising tool, everydayhero.
Leigh Ann came to Charleston from Fairhope, Alabama in 1999 for college and never left…the city and the Center for Women!
She started with the Center for Women (C4W) in 2002 as an intern and was hired full-time after receiving a Bachelors in Media Communication from the College of Charleston.
With over 12 years of nonprofit experience and a variety of different positons with the C4W, she now manages Special Events and a number of different ongoing programs, as well as all social media & Marketing for the organization.
Leigh Ann believes in connecting women (and men) for the greater good & being a strong supporter and advocate for those in her personal and professional life. She lives in Mt Pleasant with husband Matt and two girls, Mollie (age 6) and Annie (age 2).
Maggie is founder/creative director at Black Book Marketing and co-owner of Redux Yoga. A tenured advertising and publishing executive, Maggie has served as executive director, chief content officer, writer, and designer during her career. Her passion is acting as catalyst for a creative team. Working in the distance education sector inspired her to take her team virtual by harnessing the best of collaboration technology. She works with artists and clients nationwide to deliver online campaigns, print, TV, radio, and social media.
When Maggie isn’t sketching ads on the back of cocktail napkins, she can be found at the beach, or at The Gibbes Museum where she is beginning her first year as docent. In her spare time she enjoys plein air abstract expressionist painting.
Katie is a Marketing Associate at Advantage Media Group, an international publishing company based in Charleston, SC. She is responsible for corporate marketing initiatives including public relations and communications, trade show management and event planning, and content creation, including social media management. She also assists with designing marketing collateral and is an active member of Advantage’s Learn & Grow Committee, an internal collaborative group that plans activities and events focused on fun, learning, and volunteering for fellow Team Members.
Originally from Flemington, NJ, Katie moved to Charleston in 2013 and has come to enjoy life as a Southerner (especially the hospitality and pimento cheese). Katie holds a BFA from Virginia Tech (Class of 2011) where she studied Studio Art and minored in Art History. Forever a Hokie, Katie enjoys watching Tech football and loves anything maroon and orange.
An active member of the Junior League of Charleston, she currently serves as the Print Publications Committee Chair where she is responsible for managing the planning, design, and creation of the chapter’s magazine, Cobblestones. Katie is also a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Alumni and Virginia Tech Alumni chapters of Charleston.
At Advantage Media Group, Courtney assists the Marketing Team in drawing in new Members to the Advantage Family through social media, content creation, and special events. With a Bachelor’s degree in Media Communication from Roger Williams University, this lifelong Massachusetts resident recently relocated to Charleston before the winter weather set in. In her free time, she enjoys yoga and playing guitar.
At her core, Tara Pate is a connector. She loves bringing people together, building community and sharing a brands story. With a background in advertising Tara has worked on both the agency side and client side of the business and thrives in brand storytelling and client relationship management.
In her current role Tara is the Community Marketing Manager for Nexton, the state’s first gigabit master planned community. She spends her days speaking to potential new residents, networking with relators and community members and telling the Nexton story to potential partners.
Before moving to Charleston in 2014 Tara worked on a master planned community in the Seattle area, which is where she fell in love with community design and thoughtful planning. Her role as a Marketing Coordinator for The Resort at Port Ludlow allowed Tara the knowledge and experience in real estate marketing to move cross-country and use her skills on the Nexton project.
Tara’s volunteer work includes being a current member of her sorority’s alumni association, Alpha Delta Pi, sitting on the Recognition and Recruitment Committee for the Junior League of Charleston, and serving lunch at One80 Place Charleston. In 2016 Tara was recognized as a Forty Under 40 for Charleston.
Brent is the Advertising and Promotions Manager at South Carolina Aquarium. Brent is a recent addition to the Charleston AMA board, where he maintains relationships with existing sponsors.
